Copytrading fees

Copytrading fees

The tab displays fund movement operations between accounts generated when copytrading fees are charged:

daily_operations_copytrading_fees.png

When you click Charge copytrading fee at the top of the table, all fee charging and distribution operations available for the day are processed.

To process several selected operations, select them in the table and click the corresponding button at the bottom of the screen.

The table contains the following information:

ActionsCharge copytrading fee - processes a specific operation; Cancel - cancels the operation.

After the operations are processed, several transactions with the Service fee type and the Copytrading fee subtype appear in Transactions.

In settings, the broker can set a fee for using another broker's public account, as well as a technology provider fee.

For public accounts created within the broker, transactions are processed for the fee amount less the broker fee:

  • From the client's special account to the fee account (the broker's nominal account or the fee account specified in Copytrading settings);
  • From the fee account to the invoice account generated by the system when the public account was created.

For public accounts provided by another broker, the following transactions are processed:

  • From the fee account to the technology provider's account (Unity);
  • From the nominal account to the fee account specified when the public account was provided to the broker. Within the broker that provides the public account, transactions are processed according to the scenario above.

Subscription statuses

StatusDescription
ActiveThe client account is subscribed to the public account.
CanceledThe subscription has been terminated, but the account still has a Future balance in the account currency (the remaining funds have not been transferred from the special account to the trading account).
CancelingThe subscription has been terminated, but the positions on the client account opened as part of the subscription have not yet been closed, and the funds have not been transferred to the trading account. To terminate the subscription, process the operations on the Copytrading accounts tab in Daily operations.
SuspendedSet when the client account has insufficient funds, in the event of a margin call, or manually in Public account subscriptions.
ClosedAfter the subscription is assigned the Canceled status and all Future balances on the account are zero, it changes to this status and is no longer listed as active for the subscriber.

Fee charging frequency

Fixed fees are charged at the frequency specified in the public account settings.

The first calculation period starts when the subscription is created. The next charging date is determined by adding the selected period to the subscription date.

If the corresponding date does not exist in the following month, the charging date is set to the last existing day of that month.

Examples:

Frequency: weekly Subscription date: May 12 Next charging date: May 19

Frequency: monthly Subscription date: May 12 Next charging date: June 12

Fair fee calculation (HWM principle) for profit sharing

The same calculation principle is used for Profit sharing fees regardless of whether the fee is configured to be charged periodically or when a position is closed.

The fee is calculated based on the total P/L of the subscription since it was created. The result of an individual position is not used as the basis for the fee calculation on its own.

Only the event that triggers the calculation differs:

  • for profit sharing with a specified period - when the next charging date is reached;
  • for profit sharing by position - when a position is closed;
  • for both variants - when the subscription is terminated.

Therefore, when a position is closed, the system recalculates the fair fee based on the total result of the entire subscription rather than charging a fee only on the P/L of the closed position.

Calculation formula

When the fee is charged, the following formulas are used:

Fair fee = (Total P/L + Paid fee) × C

If the Fair fee is greater than the Paid fee:

  • the Current fee is calculated as the difference between the Fair fee and the Paid fee;
  • a transaction is processed to charge the Current fee;
  • the Paid fee value is updated:
    • Paid fee (new) = Paid fee + Current fee

where:

  • Total P/L is the total P/L on the account since the subscription started;
  • Paid fee is the profit-sharing fee already charged (the total of previously processed transactions);
  • C is the fee percentage (Profit sharing percentage);
  • Current fee is the fee amount to be charged at the current moment.
Calculation example

The Profit sharing percentage (C) is 20%.

StageTotal P/LPaid feeCalculation
First calculation100 USD0 USDFair fee = (100 + 0) × 20% = 20 USD. 20 USD is charged. Paid fee = 20 USD.
Next calculation after a loss50 USD20 USDFair fee = (50 + 20) × 20% = 14 USD. Since 14 USD is less than the 20 USD already paid, no additional fee is charged.
Next calculation after profit increases200 USD20 USDFair fee = (200 + 20) × 20% = 44 USD. Current fee = 44 - 20 = 24 USD. After charging, Paid fee = 20 + 24 = 44 USD.

Broker fees

If commissions such as Default percent and Exclusive percent are set in the broker's Copytrading settings, transactions for these fees are generated on the date the fee paid to the public account owner is incurred.

The broker's fee is calculated based on the fee received by the public account owner:

Copytrading broker fee = Copytrading fee (paid to owner) x Fee (Default percent or Exclusive percent set in the broker's settings)

For example: Calculated commission of the public account owner = 20 USD Default percent set in the broker = 50% Copytrading broker fee = 20 x 50 / 100 = 10 USD Sum of commissions paid by the client = 20 USD + 10 USD = 30 USD
