Accounts FIX sessions
Accounts FIX sessions
FIX (Financial Information eXchange) protocol is a data exchange protocol, which is an international standard for exchange of data between exchange trading participants in real-time mode. A FIX session is a connection via the FIX protocol.

In this section, you can see the list of accounts that have FIX sessions added.
A FIX session can be created for an account to send data over the API. To do this, click Add fix session. A sidepage will open where you can select the account and session type.
Several session types are available.
Order session
This type of session allows clients to create an order connector on their side and submit orders to the platform via the FIX protocol. The system processes these orders and sends messages about their status during processing within the account to which the FIX session is linked.
Please note! Only order types supported by the client order type set can be placed via FIX sessions. If an order cannot be placed, the client will receive a notification.
Market session
A Market session allows receiving prices for instruments available in the account to which the session is linked. It also allows receiving trades from the Kraken connector.
Protection against oversubscriptions
The Market session has protection against an excessive number of invalid instrument subscription requests:
- If 500 or more requests for instruments unavailable for subscription are sent within 1 minute, the connection to the session is automatically disconnected for 1 minute. After this period, the session can be resumed.
- If a subscription request is repeatedly sent within an hour for an unavailable instrument for which an error has already been received, no response is sent.
Client STP session
This type of session allows the client to ensure that a trade is recorded in the system in case of any errors or data loss. This session type is recommended for reporting or analytical systems.
Unlike Order sessions, STP sessions guarantee that trades are recorded in the system database. For reporting and trade analysis purposes, it is recommended to use STP sessions, as Order sessions alone are not sufficient. The key difference is that an STP confirmation is sent only after the trade has been recorded in the database, while an Order confirmation is sent at the moment of trade execution. Therefore, a trade may be executed but, for some reason, not recorded in the database. Under a heavy database load, there may be a slight delay between order execution and recording the trade in the database. If you plan to rely on trade information, it is better to wait for the STP confirmation.
