Margin

margin_1.png

Margin is the amount that is frozen in the trading account until the position is closed. These funds are needed as a guarantee to the broker that the trader will pay off his obligations in the event of an unfavorable outcome of the transaction.

Here you can see your available and used margin, total assets, unrealized P/L, expected settlements and assets market value.

For your convinience you can use the currency ruler in the widget header to see the margin amount in different currencies.

Also in the widget header you can see your Margin utilization and Stop Out levels. Margin utilization shows the percentage of margin collateral that you are using for trading of margin products. It increases when you use your funds for margin requirements. Reserved for:

  • current open positions on marginal instruments (Position Margin)
  • all active orders, including orders for deliverable (non-marginal) instruments (Order Margin)
  • negative balances on currencies (Currency Margin)

If the Margin utilization level is higher than the Stop out level shown in the percentage next to it, the Limit orders placed are will be cancelled. Then, if the margin utilization level is still too high, positions will be closed (Starting with the one with the highest negative Total PL).
